Out break of Cholera in Nyanza Province in Western Kenya as cost the area 37 lives and 400 cases reported. What is this?
There has been an outbreak of Cholera disease in Nyanza province in Western Kenya in the last one week.
Nyanza province is the most marginalized and poverty affected in the country of Kenya.
The Cholera outbreak has claimed 37 lives in one week time only and 400 cases reported.
Health experts have said, it is as a result of the last election riots effects and poor sanitation.
Many water systems in the slum areas, in Western Kenya were vandalized by rioters. Many slum and poor families in Nyanza remain with no good water and latrine sanitation.
Salem Christian Church in Kenya has joined other organizations in the struggle to control the out break as a matter of emergency and put up long term measures.
Salem Christian church has come up with “Shauriyako slum school children bottle water package for life saving”.
Out volunteer church workers are distributing bottle water to schools children in Shauriyako slum in Homa Bay town, which is the most affected slum by Cholera out break in Nyanza province.
Shauriyako slum only has 14 reported death cases as a result of the Cholera out break among the 37 reported death cases and 93 people hospitalized.
Children constitute 11 of the 14 death cases and 74 of the hospitalized.
We are appealing to well-wishers, friends of our work, friends of Kenya and people of humanity concern, to join us by urgent donations towards the water package for school children in the slum.
We are targeting seven (6) slum schools with a child population of nine thousand five hundred forty three children (9,543).
Every child should use one bottle of water per day.
We are also coming up with long term measure plan.
In long term measure, we are planning to put latrines in the seven (6) slum schools and drill boreholes each per the (6) seven slum schools.
Salem Christian Church is appealing to well wishing donors, partners and donators to join us both in the short and long terms measures, to help and support the Shauriyako slum community and mostly children.
Remember we are challenged because the slum is our main church physical location!
If you intend to join us in long term partnership then you can contact us through our website email address or post address found in our website and we will send you a narrative plan for the long term measures.
You can always bless our spiritual work, through donation alongside these specific work donations.
Spiritual work of building God’s Kingdom is our baseline and foundation of all that we do in our works.
“God bless your giving hand”.
Pastor Charles.
